Pour Over Basics Level 1
About this Event
Pour Over Coffee Workshop: From Bean to Brew
Join us for a hands-on 2-hour pour over coffee workshop designed for anyone who wants to better understand coffee and brew exceptional cups at home.
Whether you're just getting started or already enjoy specialty coffee, this class will help you discover what makes every coffee unique and how small brewing adjustments can dramatically improve flavor.
What You'll Learn
Part 1 (60 minutes): Coffee Fundamentals
Through an interactive presentation, we'll explore:
The history of coffee and how it became one of the world's most beloved beverages.
Why coffees from different countries taste different, including the impact of origin, climate, altitude, and variety.
How processing methods—such as washed, natural, and honey—shape the flavor of coffee.
How to describe coffee flavor using common tasting terminology and sensory techniques.
Part 2 (60 minutes): Dialing In Your Pour Over
The second half of the class is a practical brewing session focused on one of the most important variables in coffee brewing: grind size.
Using the same coffee and brewing recipe, you'll learn how adjusting only the grinder can transform the cup. We'll taste and compare multiple brews together to understand how grind size affects extraction, sweetness, acidity, body, and balance.
By the end of the workshop, you'll have the knowledge and confidence to troubleshoot your own pour over recipes and consistently brew delicious coffee at home.
Perfect for: Beginners, home brewers, and anyone curious about specialty coffee.
